Asana Shala-P-TAK : The Five Elements

yoga and asanaThe science of Yoga or Samkhya Yoga states that the Universe is composed of 120 elements derived from the combination of 5 basic elements. As of 2016, humanity has discovered 118 elements. Humans, like everything else in the universe, are composed of permutations and combinations of these 5 basic elements

Each of the 5 Elements plays an important part in our emotional, psychological and physical selves. The P-TAK [Pancha (Five) -Tattva (Element) Asana (Posture) Kriya (Sequence)] is a Hatha Yoga-Asana sequence based on the ancient science of the 5 Elements.

Every asana in P-TAK belongs to one of the 5 Elements and reflects our own specific elemental combination. The course also introduces the theory of 5 Elements based on the ancient science of Samkhya Yoga. The experiential techniques of P-TAK are aimed at identifying and balancing the individual personalities and body-types through Asanas. This in turn leads to a harmonized character, focused and willful mind, and a healthy, toned body. Past personality limitations and physical problems are overcome and new goals set, as a new body and mind are developed. The course offers a platform for practitioners who want to immerse themselves deeper into yoga therapy and practice – both physiological and psychological.

Daily Schedule

1) Asana 5 Elements : 7:30 – 8:45am

2) Yoga Theory : 10:30 – 11:30am

3) Pranayama & Meditation : 12:00 – 1:00pm

4) Yoga Theory : 3:30 – 4:45pm

5) Asana Vinyasa : 5:00 – 6:15pm

After attending the course, students will be able to –

  • Appreciate the 5 Elements theory from psychological and physiological perspectives
  • Identify & harmonize their unique 5 elemental mix
  • Understand the difference between Yoga and Asana
  • Intensify and deepen their Asana practice
  • Create customised Asana sequences based on the elements, for self-healing

Students who’ve undergone a 200hr/500hr training will be preferred as the teachings of this course are intensive and prior foundational practice of Yoga is required to fully integrate such teachings.
